Deliberate culture is well-defined. Passive culture is squishy.

Deliberate culture is written down. Passive culture is only spoken.

Deliberate culture is aligned upon by the team. Passive culture differs based on who you ask.

Deliberate culture empowers you to hire the right people. Passive culture occurs as a result of the people you hire.

Deliberate culture is a recruiting weapon. Passive culture is squirming when a candidate asks “so what’s the culture here like?”

Deliberate culture is a set of attributes. Passive culture is happy hours and ping pong tables.

Deliberate culture is concise. Passive culture is a catch-all list of things people want to hear.

Deliberate culture is genuine. Passive culture is merely marketing.

Deliberate culture is something you’re proud of. Passive culture is something you hide from.

Deliberate culture is not right for everyone. Passive culture is right for no-one.

Deliberate culture vs. passive culture: which are you?
